Service Learning Event
The annual Service Learning Event is held in September and is sponsored by The Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation. It is a service learning kick-off to the school year! Principals, teachers and students from schools receiving a service learning award are invited to attend the event. Treats, lunch and award checks are presented to approved schools. Service partner organizations such as The National WWII Museum, STEM Library Lab, Infinity Science Center, Fast Food Farm, The Nature Conservancy and others offer hands-on activities and educational service opportunities for youth.
Schools in Louisiana and Mississippi may apply for service learning funds for the 2020-2021 school year. If you are interested in our program, please request a service learning booklet of information or rsvp to attend a service learning workshop. Applications for the 2020-2021 school year are being accepted now! Applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis until Monday, November 30, 2020. The first round of applications will receive decisions by June 15, 2020, and continue monthly.
