Service Learning Event

Service Learning Event

The annual Service Learning Event held in September is sponsored by The Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation. It is a service learning kick-off to the school year! Principals, teachers and students from schools receiving a service learning award are invited to attend the event. Treats, lunch and award checks are presented to approved schools. Service partner organizations such as The National WWII Museum, YRNO (Youth Rebuilding New Orleans), LSU Coastal Roots, Fast Food Farm, YMCA, The Nature Conservancy and others offer hands-on activities and educational service opportunities for youth.

Schools in Louisiana and Mississippi may apply for service learning funds for the 2019-2020 school year. If you are interested in our program,  please attend a service learning workshop or request a service learning booklet. A new application for the 2019-2020 school year is online in the Forms section of this site. Please contact us for additional information.
